Nike Air Max 90 is Re-Crafted for its 30th Anniversary

1990 Saw the birth of the beloved Air Max 90. Originally known as the Air Max III, this style took the visible air unit first seen on the Air Max 1 and made it a whole lot bigger. When Tinker Hatfield first created visible air, the concept started as an experiment in cushioning to allow the air capsule to expand outside its natural rubber confines but this iconic design has grown into something used both on the track and in everyday life.

To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Nike Air Max 90, the silhouette has been re-crafted to closely resemble its 1990 debut. The styling sits a lot lower and the panelling has been re-tooled with premium suede and mesh. One noticeable design feature is the height of the mudguard. The panelled mudguard has been risen significantly so that it is much closer to the collar than seen on previous retro releases. This is the same as with the toe box detailing, with the toe box looking flatter and more like the original. Finally, thee heel patches are not as tall, again, mirroring that of its ancestor. All these details combine to make the AM90 “CS” the most true-to-the-original re-release yet.

Adorning the laces are oval lace dubres sporting ‘1990’ on one foot and ‘2020’ on the other further expanding on the heritage of the original is an increased padding on the lining for additional comfort. These 90s also come packaged in an original hazard-striped slim box for a final nod to the silhouette’s genesis.

This style also comes complete with anatomical arch supports to place in the shoes for added comfort and support.
