Nike Air Max 90 Lahar Pays homage to ACG Roots

Since its debut in 1990, the Air Max 90 has been a go-to choice for sneaker heads everywhere. Nike are set to release a pack named the ‘Lahar Escape,’ which pays homage to the Nike Air Lahar from 1989 and even though this hiking book has been used as inspiration, the colour ways are completely original and new.

Adorning the tongue of their ACG counterpart is the word “Escape,” whereas on this new update the word “Lahar” has been included in a similar upper care serif typeface. The pack includes two different colour ways,  “Light Cream/Aligator” and “White/Natural Indigo”, with set to release this Thursday.

Arriving in usual Air Max 90 style, cracked leather equips the mid-paneling while smooth shiny leather dresses the toe box, side panels, and heel. Mesh is then used on the tongue for a texturising element that adds much-needed depth to the sneaker.

Even smaller details come in the form of the shoes’ laces. The tonal offerings are speckled, just like the originals’ pair, once more nodding to a utilitarian heritage. As per the archetype AM90 design, Air Max branding has been added to the lateral rear-quarter while the heel tab sports the OG Nike Air logo.
