The Nike Air Jordan 6 Gets The Washed Denim Treatment

Sported in all walks of life, from tradesmen to city workers on their day off. Washed denim has become a wardrobe staple for decades. After the success of the iconic Jordan 4 x Levis collaboration from January last year, Nike apply the same treatment to the iconic Jordan 6.

The shoe is designed in a way that complements the triple-tone denim with a multi-panelled build. The toe box is dressed in a lighter wash raw indigo and similarly on the perforated side panelling. Across the laces at the top of the shoe, a brown leather patch is used as a lace shield which beautifully contrasts the blue of the denim. The style is completed with a black midsole with sail coloured outsole detailing and a red lace lock to match the red of the Jump Man logo adorning the bottom of the foot.

Back in 1991, Michael Jordan’s sixth signature style was designed by none other than Tinker Hatfield, the man behind the start of the Air Max series and also all the Jordans from 3 up to 15. No specific inspiration for the VI has ever been stated by Tinker, but it does feature a heel tab inspired by the rear spoiler of sports cars (namely those owned by Jordan Himself) , the first of many references to automobiles in the Air Jordan line. Some of the iconic features that set this Jordan apart are the use of transparent outsole material alongside a visible air unit as well as a die cut rubberised tongue. On all retro’ed styles these features are effectively used to give nod to the originals.
