We first saw the iconic ‘ Animal Pack ’ appear in collaboration with Japanese retailer, ‘Atmos’ back in 2006 when Nike launched the Nike x Atmos Air Max 1 Wheat/Sport Red-Bison-Classic Green. At the time, Koji, the director of Atmos wanted the style to represent the animals seen when you would visit the zoo. He used a variety of faux pony hair panels to express these animals. The styles were completed with Red Swooshes to represent the carnivores and green heel branding for the herbivores.
This Thursday, the 19th of December see’s the release of the Jordan 3 ‘ Animal Pack ,’ a further nod to the 2006 ancestor. This Animal Pack style has been dressed in faux animal print adorning the markings and colourings of the zebra, leopard, tiger, and black panther on this finely created Retro. The lining is crafted in smooth leather as well as on the tongue and red is accented on the embroidered Jumpman logo as well as on the eyelets.
Originally releasing in 1988, The Air Jordan 3 became one of the most important Jordans in history. This was the season when Jordan won his first NBA Most valuable player award. He won all the major honours you can think of. When Tinker Hatfield took over on the design, this was the first Jordan to ever get the visible air treatment.
This style also features a rare feature in having a gum outsole. Not often seen on many styles of Jordan.
