Brand History

Established in 1995 by Scott Sasso who was born and bred in New York, 10 Deep is a design firm and creative collective, of which the main output is the 10 Deep Clothing line.   Sasso had worked his way up to owning his own company after stints working for Phat Farm and Mecca Clothing and starting the brand Akademiks with three friends. The idea for the brand had always been in the back of his mind since he'd printed his first tees as a child with the help of his mother, who was also a fashion designer.

10.Deep is one of the original New York streetwear brands. Through bold graphics and quality design, they create apparel that intelligently conjures thoughts of movements, individuals, and ideologies of days past and present.
They seek to produce goods that neither sacrifice quality nor style. At 10 Deep their motto is simple: forget everyone and listen to yourself. Strength lies in the hands of an individual (10 fingers), not in the approval of one's peers.

In their own words they are:
"Driven by the same personal strength and energy that bore hip hop, skate, punk and graffiti subcultures, 10 Deep, a cornerstone street wear brand for over fifteen years, communicates the bold power of individuality."

Over the last decade and a half the brands reputation and following in the streetwear community has continued to expand at a massive rate. It is a top end brand that is renowned for simple, strong design and using high quality materials.

You can't get much more New York than 10 Deep. To the extent that sometimes the rest of the world doesn't seem to come onto their radar. If you ain't New York you ain't s
**t. Some would see this as small mindedness, but the truth is it keeps them focused on the aesthetic ideals that gained them their reputation.

Staying true to your roots is an ethos that is emulated throughout all facets of street culture and for 10 Deep to remain as a high end brand it must stick to it's own rules. As soon as they start cutting back on the quality of materials they use or stepping away from their own design heritage, they loose the reputation they've built. There are definite reasons for their blind loyalty to NYC.

The latest delivery from those no-messin New Yorkers definitely stays true to their own game. Traditional Americana adapted to be sported by the baddest cats. The 'Wildcard' crew presses heavily on old college graphics, with a vintage effect on the print, and is constructed to have a feel of pure quality. Hijacking heritage themes and making it high end street.

The 'Tenth Division' design which appears on the snapback of the same name and the 'Stadium' tee takes it influence from another area of american history. From a time of big cars with big wings, drive in cinemas and black people sitting at the back of the bus. The Diamond Knuckle logo and the catchphrase 'Internationally Known, Locally Respected.' have been added to bring the design right up to date.

Delving further into American tradition, to the time when their wasn't a white face on the continent is the 'Navajo Pocket' tee, with it's all-over pattern adapted from the covering of the Native American tribe of the same name. This patterning is hundreds of years old but sums up the look that dedicated streetwear-heads are craving right now. Funny how these things go.
