Nike Vandal LE and Nike Vandal Supreme, produced from 1984 to 1987 is one of the popular retro basketball shoes to be released. The Nike Vandal was one of the first trainers to have an entirely nylon upper and based on the Nike Air Force 1 they have always had a shiny quilted finish with a Velcro strap across the top. The Nike Vandal quickly became the trainer of choice with breakdancers due to their bold design and good ankle support.
The Nike Vandal trainers are most popular with adults reliving the glorious days of their youth. Girls like them for their tomboy cool factor, and the younger generation is learning just how cool it can be to learn their history with these retro styles.
The Nike Vandal popularity was helped along by appearing in the film The Terminator and skateboarders have also adopted this trainer as a favourite. As with most Nike footwear, which was originally designed for performance on the basketball court, the Nike Vandal have subsequently become an icon of street culture.
