The Nike Blazer was one of the first basketball sneakers that Nike ever produced; the Nike Blazer was first released in 1972 and they we’re originally worn by NBA legend George “The Iceman” Garvin, along with many big NBA stars of the time. Their light weight and excellent ankle support made them highly suitable for the purpose.
With a simple design and an extremely large swoosh; the Nike Blazer was created to compete with the Adidas and Converse sneakers that were dominating the hardwood. Available in leather, canvas and suede, the Nike Blazer also features an outsole that is fused to the upper. Nike Blazers have always been available in a high top and low version but the colourways were originally limited to a small selection.
But today the Nike Blazer is available in many different styles and a seemingly never-ending selection of colourways. To keep the Nike Blazer up to date and popular Nike have released several themed versions of the shoe including Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii versions.
Nike have also released several hybrid versions of the Nike Blazer shoe over the years and these have included Nike SB editions with an Air Zoom insole and a Converse All Star cross over known as the ‘Chuck Taylor All Stars’ Blazers.
