Supra Valentines Day + MLK Vaiders
Supra have become renowned for their special limited edition releases and we've got a couple of real bangers to kick off the new year. A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog about the MLK Vaider's which were released to commemorate the birthday of the great man. We now have a limited number of these in stock, in a wide variety of sizes.
The next special release from Supra to come our way are these 'Valentine's Day' Vaiders. They come in a bright Red and White colourway with gold detailing and have TUF waxed canvas uppers. The special touch on these loved up Vaiders is the heart and arrows crest that is embroidered onto the back heel and printed onto the black insole.

The gold crown applique, gold eyelets and red stripes around the midsole are all really nice additions.

Again, these like the MLK Vaiders are available in extremely limited numbers, so get your's quick from our Supra section.
A few choice new pieces from Adidas Originals
Adidas Originals is of course a brand steeped in history. Since it's beginning in the 1940's the brand with the three stripes has gone on to be an essential element of hip hop and street culture having produced some of the most iconic footwear and apparel to have graced the scene. While the classics have always remained as part of Adidas's output they have also always managed to stay current with ingenious new inventions like the Adi Rise, the Freemont an their entire skate inspired ST range.
The latest drop of Adidas Originals gear is a shining example of how the classic brand manages to stay up to speed. First up a reworking of a 1970's silhouette with the 'Nizza Lo Black/White'. They have a tastefully designed, simple look which plays heavily on the big contrast between the uppers and the deep vulcanized sole.
Really like the tonal rubberized toe piece and the reinforced front of the midsole. A sturdy classic.
Next up is this 'Houses' tee with it's intricative illustrative print of an imaginary cityscape making up the word 'ADIDAS'. I couldn't find who's responsible for the design (I didn't look very hard to be fair) but that casual style of the illustration is reminiscent of several big names in illustration and definitely band up to date.
I'm guessing Adidas Originals are not actually condoning criminal activities with this 'Run' tee, and the statement is purely tongue in cheek and meant to be read as such...so don't get any ideas. Or if you do, bear in mind that telling the judge: "Adidas told me to do it me lud" probably won't fly.
A half naked, very hot women on a tee always seem to go down a storm with a lot of streetwear heads for some mysterious reason. This fact has clearly not escaped the good people at Adidas Originals, who have come up with this next design on the 'STR Girl' crewneck. Who would have thought a boxing glove could be so sexy. The same print is also available on the 'STR Graphic' tee.
Last up is this 'Firebird Windbreaker' in Core Energy Red (I love the names Adidas give colours.) which is dripping with classic Adidas styling and it folds up into a neat carry bag which his stored in a zip compartment at the back. The stand up collar, white detailing and signature three stripes makes for a retro winner.
We're receiving new stock from Adidas Originals all the time so be sure to check in regularly if the three stripes are your thing.

Brand New Colourways of the Nike Air Max 1.
Arriving in the next few days are several banging new colourways of the classic Nike Air Max 1. The shoe that made Tinker Hatfield's name in the sneaker game has been one of the most popular Nike silhouettes since it was first released in 1987.
The last couple of years have been good to the Air Max 1. With special releases such as the Omega Pack and last years ACG pack showing just what can be done with the shoes smooth shape in terms of fabrics and colours.
These three latest colourways do not let the side down. First up is the Shale/Yellow/Blue version with it's off-white sole and calm combination of colours.
Such a dope colourway and those dashes of yellow bring out the blue and shale brilliantly.
I've always loved the way the light shines through the air unit. The Nike Air Max 1 is one of a handful of silhouettes that truly deserve the title of 'Classic'. Here's the Mid Navy/Action Red/White...
This colour combination is a winner. The Action Red really shines.
Last but not least is this Signal Blue/Anthracite/White version. Brings a really fresh look to the shape...cooler than Rick James sitting in an ice box on a cold day.
Pick yourself up a pair of these right now and check out the rest of the latest Nike gear here.
Limited Edition Supra MLK Vaiders
Whenever Supra do a limited edition version of one of their well loved silhouettes it always seems to go down a storm with the UK sneakerhead community. A prime example of this was the Far East inspired 'Rising Sun' Society which was released as a quickstrike last year. As one of a handful of stockists to have the shoe, we were recieving phone calls from desperate shoe hunters months after the last pair had walked out of our stockroom.
It's for this reason that we're giving you some advanced warning about the Limited Edition 'MLK' Vaiders which are arriving in the next few days. As with the 'Rising Sun', 5 Pointz is one of only 6 UK accounts to be stocking this special version of the ever-popular shoe.
This special release has been timed to coincide with the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr's birthday, as a sign of rememberance to the great man. King is, of course, remembered as one of the driving forces behind the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's, who made history with his amazing oratory skills and avid belief in the use of non violent protest.
I think it is a brave move of Supra to link a special release shoe to such a massive cultural icon, but to be fair to the brand they have approached the project with due consideration and taste.
The MLK Vaiders are understated with their all black 'TUF' uppers, black vulcanized sole and golden highlights. If the design had been any louder, with any more gold or another colour, then it would have become unsuitable for the task of celebrating the day and the man.

Some have stated that these are nothing but a copy of the black and gold retro Jordans, but if you compare the two the only simularity is the colours used. The Jordans are glossy and use a different tone of gold that highlights completely different parts of the shoe. I don't see it.

So to re-cap, these shoes are an EXTREMELY LIMITED EDITION and are only available from a handful of UK stockists. According to the good people at Supra these MLK Vaiders will be with us in the next few days (12th-18th Jan 2012), so all you Supra addicts keep your heads up.
