Dickies & Stussy
Dependable...that's the best word to describe Dickies clothing. Known for over eighties years for it's top quality, hardwearing construction and trusted by brickies and skaters alike to be able to take a battering.
Some of these classic Dickies items have been given a Stussy style doing over. The Stussy touch comes into play via fabrication and the addition of graphic elements. There's ripstop (used on the pants), traditional chambray and striped oxford cloth on the shirts and some classic Stussy typography throughout.
At 5pointz we've got the best bits of this collaboration for you and here's a quick look at them.
First up is the 'Striped L/S Work Shirt' in blue. With it's finely striped material, reduced collar and subtle branding, this is definitely a summer winner. Weather you're boating through Oxfordshire with your chinos and a stupid fucking straw hat on, or working your way through a plaggy bag of Stella in the park, you will be feeling good in this shirt.
This next 'Dark Navy L/S Shirt' has a different feel to it. The collar is slightly wider and the white stitching and buttons go nicely with the embroidered typography above the left chest pocket. To me this one is more obviously city than beach.
It's also available in a lighter blue. That Script Stussy logo sits so nicely on this classic cut piece...
Many would say that The Dickies 'Work Hood' with it's thermal mesh lining and durable construction is just about the best hoody out there and with a bit of Stussy magic it's got that bit better. The white lining contrasts nicely against the Heather Grey and the logos of the two company sits nicely together on the left chest.
Last but not least is Stussy's reworking of the trusted Work Pant. Made with ripstop material to take whatever you throw at them while being breathable and lightweight and coloured in a rich shade of Khaki, these are also excellent gear for Summer messing.
That's all from this collab for now people...watch out for a another Dickies X Stussy capsule coming later this year.
Supra gets better and better...
In it's relatively short history Supra with it's blend of spotless design, excellent construction and a few handy celebrity endorsements, has risen to the top of the footwear game.
Supra Footwear launched in 2005 when the founder Angel Cabada decided to expand his interest in making cool, fashionable gear to include sneakers. In 2002 Cabada started a clothing company called KR3W which is still going strong today. Instead of starting a footwear line within KR3W he decided to start a sister company with it's own style and branding. He named this company 'Supra' which is latin for 'above and beyond'. The aim was to produce footwear to compliment KR3W that was less 'chunky' than most skate shoes on the market.
This slimline look and use of unusual materials along with Supra's experiments with the highest of high tops has meant all their silhouettes have been instantly popular with streetwear junkies the world over. The quality of the construction especially in the 'TUF' shoes with their unbeatable hardwearing use of strong materials have meant Supras are excellent skate shoes.
This has lead to the company working closely with several pro-skaters to produce signature silhouettes that are made for the skater. Chad Muska was involved in the development of the Skytop and has put his name to them and the even higher Society is linked to Terry Kennedy.
At 5 Pointz we've just recieved the latest Supra drop and there are some real gems in this bunch. Their output seems to get better every season and this collection hasn't broken the trend.
Let's start with the tried, tested and loved Vaider. This has proved to be one of the most popular Supra silhouettes. These versions with their perforated leather and redesigned tongue are looking as sharp as ever. Also available in white...
Next up are these 'Black & Tan Full Grain Pigskin' Skytops. The Pigskin is softer than normal leather and has a wicked matte finish to it that works nicely against the vulcunised sole and the 'peanut butter' colour of the interior.
These Society's also have uppers made entirely from this pigskin and the matte effect works just as well on this high high top silhouette....
Coming under the title of Supra's TUF range are these waxed canvas versions of the usual suspects. Again a nice finish and you can tell as soon as you take them out the box that the waxed material is incredibly sturdy and these shoes will last you as long as you care to wear them. Here's the Waxed Canvas Skytops...
This tone of grey show up the lines of the silhouette so nicely and that also applies to the Skytops big bruv the Skytop II as you can see here...
This waxed canvas stuff really does feel like it would survive nuclear fallout. Tough shit. Here's the popular Henry boot in the same material...
And the Society with its double ankle straps for extra ankle support for all the skaters. Works particularly well in the grey. Terry Kennedy must be proud...
Another super 'TUF' material used by Supra is on these Skytop Gunny's. It's such a satisfying shape this silhouette. Love the lines across the side panel. I know I keep on banging on about it but these shoes are so sturdy and because of the right amount of internal padding feel so nice on your feet...
Here's the all white version. A good choice with summer beginning to show itself. The vulcunized sole on these is so sturdy and studily attached to the uppers, so you're less likely to get that split that so often happens on a pair of Converse Chuck's.
This is a sick drop from a brand that's getting better and better. There's a good few other colour-ways in our Supra section right now. Check them out...
The Hundreds rock the snapback!
We've recently recieved a fine selection of The Hundreds snapbacks with even more coming soon due to popular demand!
The snapback cap has been part of fashion since long before Easy E and the rest of NWA were rocking LA Raiders hats with matching crewnecks. There popularity has risen and fallen time after time and in recent years has been dwarved by the demand for New Era 59fiftys.
The tide now seems to have turned in favour of the snapback once again and vintage Starter caps in mint condition are now selling for crazy money. Several streetwear brands have been producing their own snapbacks for a few years now but no one seems to have hit the hat on the head like The Hundreds.
A few of their designs have proved so popular that they keep returning with each season with slight variations. There also seems to be newbies with each collection which always prove popular with the fans. This trend for snapbacks shows no signs of wavering any time soon and The Hundreds have gained themselves a reputation as the leader of the pack.
So lets take a gander at this latest bunch, starting with the 'Team 2'. This is one of the aforementioned designs that has come back in numerous colour-ways over the last few years and is extremely popular each time. The typography clearly harks back to eighties american pro-sports graphics. The Hundreds are the team and every streetwear head rocking the hat is the die hard fan. The bomb logo on the side of the hat is even an homage to the pro league logos such as the ones for the NBA and NFL.
You can see why this design has been such a winner. That heavily embossed lettering with a subtle outline is so well done. The pro-sport influence is also obvious in the 'Player' hat with it's heavy arched block lettering. The grey version of this one was so popular that the damn thing had sold out before I had time to write this blog. Oh well, we've still got a couple of other wicked colourways for you. This green and white number is in my opinion just as dope as the grey...
That subtle, tonal embroidery of 'Los Angele's along the top is a nice touch and you get a nice big Adam on the side of this one. This next hat, the 'Trade', moves away from retro sports and concentrates on The Hundreds own background and heritage. Rosewood Avenue is the address of The Hundreds flagship store in LA and is situated in an area that is very close to their hearts. Their blog clearly shows this by the number of pics there are of them and buddies hanging out and skating outside the store. The whole idea of The Hundreds was devised by Bobby and the others in a small office on the same site long before they could afford to even dream of having a flagship store. Now they seem to be opening a new one every week...but Rosewood Ave was the original.
I like the way the contrasting peak matches the type and the typefaces used are really satisfying. Plus you can't beat an outline Adam. It's arguably when he looks at his best.
Next up is a new design for this season. The 'Pins' snapback has similar arched block letters as seen on the 'Player' but this time the letters are bigger and the whole look is louder. The pin stripes are reminiscent of the New York Knicks uniform...or I'm looking for connections that aren't there.
We've got colour variations on all these designs so be sure to check out our The Hundreds section.
